Eating My Way Though Europe
Paris:
I'm in Paris!
The back is almost as pretty as....
....the front
I could spend hours just studying the doorways
Aren't these the coolest staplers you've ever seen?
There are over 50 kinds of roses in this small rose garden in Paris
Stained glass reflections on the floor, in the oldest church in Paris
Sacre Coeur, which is NOT the oldest church, or the prettiest, but offers some of the best views of Paris
Why do they have little mosaic aliens all over town?
Cruising on the Seine at sunset
Ain't it pretty?
'Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!' (Louvre in the background)
My arms are so short that when I take a picture of myself (in the famous Tuileries gardens), my head takes up more than half the picture
A straight shot from the Louvre, to Tuileries gardens, to the Obelisk, to the Arc de Triomphe
Weird art in Paris
Pigeons have names too! Apparently, this one's name is Aia
To this day, I still have no idea why thousands of people were dressed in white and dining outside the Louvre one night
The Sunday pet market has so many birds!
I thought the small, matching ones were the cutest
This is probably my best view of the city that includes the Eiffel Tower
Instead of a mosaic alien, it's a mosaic Oscar
That child is only the size of his eyeball
Happy Hour: time for a cheap cocktail
Old Chinese shadow puppets in the Musee du Quai Branly
African wood sculpture from the same museum
The museum's modern Indian art section had an artist's interpretation of 9/11 and the tsunami of 2004
This wall is a living art installation
Jim Morrison's grave at the Cimetiere du Pere Lachaise
Oscar Wilde's grave, all covered in lipstick, which ironically has a plaque saying 'do not touch'
This grave has the most flowers, because if you touch him and make a wish, and it comes true, you have to bring him flowers. I hope mine comes true!
Our Fat Tire Bike Tour took us right past the Hotel des Invalides, where Napoleon's body lies
A sparkling Eiffel Tower
I visited the Notre Dame again to get pictures of the inside
Right across the street is Saint Chapelle, the church with the most stained glass in all of France
Each of the gorgeous, 15-meter tall windows displays scenes from the Bible, start to finish and pane by pane
The prison where Marie Antoinette was held until her execution
These aliens keep popping up all over the place - even on the Seine
One last glimpse at Notre Dame
One last gaze of the Seine river
Goodbye Eiffel Tower!
Goodbye Arc de Triomphe!
I'll miss all the beauties the city of Paris has to offer
Au revoir!
